WSHA  Governance Structure consultation July 2026

As a valued member of West of Scotland Housing Association, we wanted to consult with you on a proposed change to the way the Board of West of Scotland Housing Association is made up.  

As you know we have a tenant-majority Board, which means out of our 15 Board Members, 8 are WSHA tenants. This makes sure tenant voices are at the centre of all the decisions we take, and we are not going to change this. 

We also have a rule that the 8 tenant Board members proportionately represent our main areas of operation. Currently we specify:  

• 2 representatives from Ayrshire 
• 4 representatives from Glasgow 
• 2 representatives from Lanarkshire 

Board recruitment is a challenge across the Housing sector, and historically this rule in particular has made it hard for us to recruit the right number of tenant members to our Board, leaving us with skills gaps and fewer tenant voices. 

In 2026, We are proposing to remove this rule, to make sure we always have the right number of tenants on our Board, and with the right skills. But before we take any action, we want to get a full understanding of how you, our Members, would feel about this change.
