New short courses for tenants this January

Willowacre Trust have partnered with Glasgow Kelvin College to offer two short courses starting in January: Intro to Community Development and First Aid at Work. Course places are fully-funded and offered free to all WSHA tenants and local community members. 

Intro to Community Development

When? 10 weeks starting 11th January to 14th March (every Thursday), 9.15am - 12.15pm

Where? Barrowfield Community Centre, 67 Yate St, Glasgow G31 4AQ

 The short introductory course will cover:

  • What is Community Development?
  • How it impacts groups and individuals.
  • How people can make affect change in their community.
  • The best ways to find out and share what is happening in your community.    

Introduction to Community Development will be certified with a Glasgow Kelvin College certificate and is a good introduction to further courses, such as Certificate in Youth Work Practice and HNC Working with Communities.

 

Emergency First Aid at Work (REHIS)

When? Tuesday 16th & Wed 17th January, 9.15am-12.30pm 

Where? Barrowfield Community Centre, 67 Yate St, Glasgow G31 4AQ

This two half-day course covers first aid basics in the workplace including: administering CPR, bandaging, incident management, infection control, heart attacks, strokes, fractures, other illnesses and first aid legislation. The course is very practical and participants should be physically able to work at ground level ensuring they do not aggravate any pre-existing health conditions etc. Comfortable clothes should be worn on the day due to the level of practical work involved.

The course will be accredited with a certificate awarded by Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland.
