What's a stock survey and why do we do them?

WSHA are currently carrying out Stock Condition Surveys on all of our homes. We do these surveys every five years to help us better understand our properties and plan our maintenance programmes - this is why it's so important to allow us into your homes when we contact you about a survey appointment.

Why do we do these surveys?

Allowing us to carry out this survey helps us to understand the current condition of your property and any areas that may require attention.  It also helps us plan our maintenance programs, making sure we have the correct information and data to be sure major components - your kitchens and bathrooms - are being upgraded or replaced within the recommended timescales. If you don't let us into your home to carry out a survey, there's a chance your home may not get the upgrades it needs in a timescale that suits you.

What happens in a survey?

When our stock condition officer is in your home they will carry out an inspection to assess the overall condition of the building and its key components, (eg, windows, kitchens, bathrooms, roofs, etc). They will also be making sure your home is safe and is compliant with safety regulations, i.e, smoke alarms, gas, electrical systems, or issues with damp and mould.

How long will a survey take?

A stock condition survey can take between 30-60 minutes depending on the size of your home. This is a good opportunity for you to speak with our stock condition officer and let them know of any issues or concerns you have about your home - although you should still be reporting any repairs in the usual way.

If you have any questions about stock condition surveys or would like to report any repairs in your home please contact Customer Service on 0141 550 5600.
