We know that antisocial behaviour can be a genuine worry for local communities and when it occurs we have a responsibility to deal with it effectively. This means working closely with others such as the police and also the local community.
What is antisocial behaviour?
Some of the actions that may constitute antisocial behaviour:
- Vandalism
- Unreasonable or persistent noise
- Verbal abuse and offensive behaviour
- Hate crimes
- Criminal behaviour
- Harassment
- Threats of violence towards another.
You can read more details of each of these in our Antisocial behaviour Policy.
Complaints received in 2024/25
The WSHA Housing Team have dealt with a total of 268 ASB complaints in the year 2024/25 to date, compared with 260 complaints in 2023/24. The nature of complaints received were varied, however noise nuisance appears to be the most reported type of incident.
In most cases of ASB, formal action does not need to be taken as the involvement of a third party is often enough to resolve any disputes or issues. However you can see what formal actions were taken as a result of our investigations below:
Action | 2023/24 | 2024/25 |
1st warnings issued | 37 | 23 |
2nd warnings issued | 6 | 5 |
Final warnings issued | 2 | 1 |
Notice of Proceedings issued | 2 | 1 |
ASBOs Granted | 2 | 0 |
Short Secure Tenancies implemented | 3 | 1 |
How to report antisocial behaviour
If you are experiencing antisocial behaviour, please ensure that you report it to the Association so we can investigate it.
Unfortunately, there will be some instances where we are unable to take action or become involved, but we will always provide advice on how best to deal with a situation.
You can view our full Antisocial Behaviour Policy here, which gives full details on how we identify antisocial behaviour and our investigative processes.
