WSHA's new homes at Dundashill, Glasgow and our redevelopment of former St Andrews Church site in Hamilton, recognised with wins at September's Herald Property Awards.
We were thrilled to collect the awards alongside our partners CCG Scotland, Collective Architecture and Apsis Solutions.
The 90-home development at Dundashill is the largest Passivhaus standard development in Glasgow, launched in May this year as part of the wider regeneration of the former Diageo Distillery site in Port Dundas.
Built to Passivhaus standard- the European Platinum standard for energy efficiency - our homes make use of a super-insulated building fabric and are naturally designed to create a high level of occupant comfort, using very little energy for heating and cooling which in turn means very low energy consumption for tenants.
Solar panels on the roof of the building connect directly to each flat, creating further benefit to the tenant as a means of offsetting energy costs, whilst innovative air-source heat pump technology for hot water and space heating requirements reduces the building’s carbon footprint and contributes towards the Scottish Government’s target for emissions from heating buildings to reach net zero by 2045.
Speaking of the development the judges said the Dundashill development was: 'a true demonstration of what is achievable when a team has the goal of producing a highly sustainable development.'
In addition WSHA also picked up the award for Individual New Build or Small Development alongside our parters Apsis Solutions for our redevelopment of the former St Andrews Church site in Hamilton, which completed last summer and provides 12 2-bedroom apartments for affordable rent.
The judges said: 'A truly unique residential development that demonstrates that with the right team, historical buildings can be brought back to life to serve the community.'
