West of Scotland Housing Association recognised as a Carer Positive Engaged Employer

West of Scotland Housing Association have been awarded accreditation as a Carer Positive Engaged Employer by Caring Scotland,  in recognition of our commitment to supporting our members of staff who have caring responsibilities.

As a Carer Positive employer, WSHA have extensive policies and practical measures in place to support our employees who are carers. We're working to make sure carers are valued and supported in their roles, both by a compassionate work culture and effective HR policies and practices.

On presenting the award, Sue McLintock, Manager of the Carer Positive Awards, said:

'It is evident that there is a strong foundation of support within West of Scotland Housing to enable staff with caring responsibilities to manage their working lives in a supportive and empathetic environment.  It’s also really encouraging to read about the involvement of carers in the development of the policy and wider support, and the levels of communication and awareness around this. Thank you to the carers who shared their experiences of how well supported they have felt – these are also very helpful in highlighting the difference in reality that a supportive employer can make to someone juggling work with caring.'
